NEWEST PETA AD HAS HOCKEY INDIA LEAGUE'S DABANG MUMBAI HC PROMOTE ADOPTION OF HOMELESS DOGS

Members of the Dabang Mumbai Hockey Club recently took time out of their busy schedules to speak up for animals. The team posed with canine pals Tommy and Marshall – who are available for adoption through The Welfare of Stray Dogs – for a print campaign for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India with the tagline "Be a Champion for Dogs. Adopt – Never Shop". The ad was shot by Gaurav Sawn, make-up was initiated by Ayesha Wadiwala and hair by Pawan O Duggal using Biotop Professional products.

"Always adopt, don't buy. And remember: there are countless cats and dogs at animal shelters waiting for loving homes", says Florian Fuchs. "As a human being, we should care for them. Just like we humans live our life, they also have one,” Harmanpreet Singh adds.

Across India, homeless dogs and cats go hungry, are killed by vehicles, sustain broken bones, suffer from infected wounds, and are abused by cruel people. Countless more wait in animal shelters because there aren't enough good homes for them. PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that "animals are not ours to abuse in any way" – encourages families to adopt dogs and cats and never buy them from breeders or pet stores, which exacerbate the homeless-animal overpopulation crisis.

PETA also advocates for the sterilization of companion animals – a routine, affordable surgery that can prevent thousands of animals from being born only to suffer and struggle to survive on the streets. Just one unaltered female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies in six years. In seven years, one female cat and her offspring can produce 370,000 kittens.
