PARINEETI CHOPRA FORAYS INTO SINGING WITH 'MAANA KE HUM YAAR NAHIN'

You've fallen in love with her smile. Now fall in love with her voice as Parineeti Chopra debuts as a singer, following her sister's footsteps, for her forthcoming film, Meri Pyaari Bindu.

Adding to the likes of Actor-singer clan of Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Priyanka and Shruti Hassan, it's now Parineeti Chopra who takes on the mantle of a singer with a soulful, lilting melody Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahin. This single gives listeners a taste of Parineeti's well-honed singing talent. Composed of hummable, poetic lyrics, Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahin is both, catchy and mellifluous. Featuring the young actor in an easy on the eyes, visually appealing setting, the video of Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahin shows Parineeti singing the track in a personalized space, somewhat lost in her thoughts.

While playback singing for films has become common among actors, Parineeti Chopra’s single goes beyond the movie star persona, keeping both the song and video understated and soothing. The young actor has rehearsed and prepared thoroughly before taking on the mantle of a singer, and the results show in the song.

“After Naam Shabana, I hope they make Naam Shukla,” says Anupam Kher

By Enlighten India blog - 25 Mar, 2017

“After Naam Shabana, I hope they make Naam Shukla,” says Anupam Kher

Baby was an instant success and Naam Shabana is showing promise. Anupam Kher, who played the doom-and-gloom Shuklaji in both the films, would like to see a Naam Shukla next. Playing a tech wizard in both the films, the actor shares why he wants a full-fledged film on his character - Shukla.

Naam Shabana is one of a kind film, which has never been attempted before. A character from a film (Baby) being transformed into a full-fledged commercial film, this gives me an optimistic hope that one day they will also make Naam Shukla. I would like to know from Neeraj (Pandey) why Shukla wears a wig,” Anupam Kher said with a smile.

The 61-year-old veteran actor says that, “Naam Shabana is an exciting concept and hopes it inspires other filmmakers to experiment with their films. Neeraj is a fine writer. The script is very important. I’m sure it will do really well. We do compare films with Hollywood and they are our benchmark but I think we have our own take on films. We hope this film encourages people to explore more of such concepts.”

Directed by Shivam Nair, Naam Shabana is a spin-off of the 2015 hit Baby and also sees Akshay Kumar in an extended cameo. Taapsee Pannu plays the central character of Shabana and the film follows her journey as she is trained to become a spy. Naam Shabana releases in cinemas on 31st March 2017.

By Enlighten India blog - 25 Mar, 2017

SHE-TIME ON THE SETS OF 'LAALI KI SHAADI MEIN LADDOO DEEWANA'

Actresses are often pitted against each other in the race to Numero Uno. But young stars of today are changing the norms of B’Town. So, while one can see Ranveer Singh and Arjun Kapoor painting the town red with their bromance, there is the Akshara Haasan - Kavitta Verma duo, who is negating the phrase ‘Two actresses can never be friends’ by every means.

Akshara Haasan and Kavitta Verma who will be seen sharing screen space in their next film Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laddoo Deewana were often spotted laughing and chatting away like old friends and didn’t behave like rivals.

The duo would talk about food, shopping, boys and all the girly stuff that a girl would share with her friend. They were often seen partying post the shoot and spending some girly time together.

Kavitta Verma says, "Akshara is a beautiful girl with a beautiful soul. She is such an outstanding human being with no air of being a star kid. We used to discuss scenes, in fact, she helped me so much with so many scenes. Besides the film, I will carry a lot of memories of our friendship. Our camaraderie is very much visible on screen"

Laali Ki Shaadi Mein Laddoo Deewana is a vibrant love story, written and directed by filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi's long-time associate Manish Harishankar, and edited by Steven Bernard. The film, which has emotions and comedy in equal measure, follows the journey of its titular characters. Produced by T. P. Aggarwal and Rahul Aggarwal under the banner ‘Star Entertainment Worldwide Production Pvt. Ltd’, the movie is slated to release on 7th April, 2017.

“70 years since the end of British rule in India, there are still very close ties between Britain and India," says Gurinder Chadha

By Enlighten India blog - Mar 4, 2017

Viceroy’s House is set to release in UK cinemas this Friday, 3rd March, following the London Premiere last week and the World Premiere that took place at Berlin Film Festival on 12th February. The film tells the true story of the final months of British rule in India and its release will coincide with the 70th Anniversary of the Independence of India and the founding of Pakistan.

Director Gurinder Chadha, marked the launch of the UK-India Year of Culture this week at a special reception held at Buckingham Palace, attended by the Queen and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. During an interview at the event, she joked about trying to arrange a private screening for the Royal family to see Viceroy's House: “Funnily enough I was on the phone to Prince Charles’ private secretary trying to work out how he can see the film and the family see the film. I want them to see it at the cinema, I don’t want them to see it on tape, this glorious, sumptuous film made in settings like this – I don’t want them to see it on a dodgy DVD!” She added: “I think what is wonderful about this evening is it is 70 years since the end of British rule in India so just to have an amazing gathering like this… it really does indicate, despite the empire and despite the British Raj, there are actually very-very close ties between Britain and India.”

The British cast of Viceroy's House is led by Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey, Paddington) as Lord Mountbatten; Gillian Anderson (The X Files, The Fall) as his wife, Lady Mountbatten; Lily Travers (Kingsman) as their daughter, Pamela; and Sir Michael Gambon (Harry Potter, Quartet) and Simon Callow (A Room With A View, Four Weddings and a Funeral) as key civil servants.

The Indian and Pakistani cast is led by Manish Dayal (The Hundred Foot Journey), Huma Qureshi (Gangs of Wasseypur) and Om Puri (The Hundred Foot Journey, East Is East). The roles of the principal political leaders are played by Tanveer Ghani (Nehru), Denzil Smith (Jinnah) and Neeraj Kabi (Gandhi).

Paulomi Ghosh and Dhananjay Galani

Burning the mid night oil to ensure the success of the film "Love Vs Gangster" the cast and the crew gathered for the Poster Launch of the film. While they flaunt the tiara of fame and popularity, Mumbai’s glamour brigade showed up in number at the launch. Renowned names from Bollywood were the biggest attraction at the high end launch including Sunil Pal, Nataliya Kozenova, Rahul Datta, Rajesh Desai, Anil Nagrath, Rakesh Bedi, Firoz Pathan, Jagraj Ghooman and Yogiraj.

About the film - Atithi Devo Bhava means 'The guest is equivalent to God' or 'Be one for whom the guest is God". Every year there are thousands of people flying down to India either as tourists or as residents. As per  ancient Hindu scripture, it is our "dharam" to treat them equivalent to God. But most of the times, these people are pushed to see the dark side of the Indian society. The plot of the film revolves around a pre-planned MMS scandal of innocent girls. A foreigner comes to India and she is lured to make her MMS tape. The film speaks about how she deals and survives the MMS scandal and her revenge. The film enlightens the society about such mishaps & provokes a sense of responsibility amongst the citizen.

DISCOVER HOW A LIFE OF A DOCTOR FROM STANFORD UNIVERSITY WAS TOTALLY CHANGED IN MINUTES WITH THE ANCIENT SECRETS OF MASTER HEALER DR. PANKAJ NARAM

By Enlighten India blog - Mar 4, 2017

THIS TRUE STORY CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE FOREVER

I am a western trained medical doctor with a degree from Stanford University. I have been struggling for the past 20 years with hypertension, taking a series of different medications with limited success. I have always understood that medication is only directed toward a symptom, and is unable to restore health to my body.  The problem is, that western medicine cannot explain the cause of my problem, and as a result, does not have therapies that can effectively treat or reverse it.

Hypertension is one of the silent killers. It sets the stage internally for heart attack, stroke, kidney failure, loss of vision, dementia, aneurysm, complications during pregnancy, and peripheral vascular disease. The worst part of all, is that it happens slowly, painlessly, and often people are not motivated to do what's necessary to control it until they've had a heart attack or something as life changing.  I see this every day with my patients. It can be devastating, leading to loss of the ability to work, to live independently, to enjoy life.

Fortunately, a few years ago I learned about Dr. Pankaj Naram. I became very curious about his understanding of health and disease after witnessing many amazing results he was able to achieve using the ancient teachings of siddha Veda.  I knew it was very special because many people got better results with his ancient wisdom than do with modern medicine. Amazing! I am trained in medical research and have an insatiably curious mind. I am not easily impressed, but I had to admit that Dr. Naram was doing something very important.

One day I was invited to experience a Marma session after one of his clinics. I was feeling good that day.  But when I had the treatment, I checked my blood pressure first, just so see if this therapy would have any benefit. To my surprise, my blood pressure was 170/111 (using my own equipment). High! But I felt fine. That's why elevated blood pressure is one of those insidious killers, breaking your body down imperceptibly. I can't describe my amazement when only 5 min later, my pressure was down to 140/90. But I was blown away about an hour later when I checked it again after returning home (with the same cuff). 90/44! And I felt fantastic!  Being a scientist, I wanted to know how powerful this treatment was without any other changes. Same diet. No medications. No herbs. Same busy life. For one solid week my pressure went no higher than 115/76. No placebo effect, because I wasn't expecting anything. No hope that it would work just an open mind to explor e something new.

I can say with confidence, that when I take the herbs and follow Dr Naram's recommendations, my blood pressure is very well controlled, a normal 120/80. Better results than I ever had with 20 years of allopathic medication. I know from experience that most chronic illnesses are insidious, wearing the body down, and affecting many if not all the organs. I know without a doubt that they cannot be effectively treated with allopathic medicines that mask the symptoms only. Because I understand that the western approach to illness and disease only slows the progression of the underlying process, I am compelled to change the way I practice. Now that's powerful!  I am eternally grateful to Dr Naram, and to his lineage of great masters of wellness. I am amazed daily as I witness or hear of people reversing their conditions and becoming healthy through the power of this knowledge.  I can only hope that more people will come to know and experience real health and real wellness.

2017 LAUNCH EVENT AT BFI SOUTHBANK

ANIL KAPOOR AND ANOUSHKA SHANKAR ATTEND UK/INDIA 2017 LAUNCH EVENT AT BFI SOUTHBANK

The British Council, the Indian High Commission and the UK government officially launched the UK India Year of Culture on 28th February 2017, a celebration of the long-standing relationship between the UK and India which will see cultural events, exhibitions and activities taking place in both countries throughout 2017. Veteran Indian actor and producer Anil Kapoor attended the event as Special Guest.

The UK India Year of Culture follows the joint announcement in 2015 by Prime Minister Modi and the then-Prime Minister David Cameron of a bilateral initiative to mark cultural ties between the UK and India; as well as Prime Minister Theresa May’s visit to India in November 2016, which further strengthened the relationship between the two countries.

The Year of Culture will include programmes celebrating India’s heritage and contemporary culture as part of the dynamic India@UK2017 festival. The India@UK2017 programme will blend artistic traditions from the UK with a wide spectrum of Indian cultural and literary traditions across multiple venues in the UK.

The launch took place at BFI Southbank, where the BFI National Archive’s restoration of an Indian/British/German co-production Shiraz was announced. The film will premiere as the Archive Gala at the 61st BFI London Film Festival in partnership with American Express® on 14 October at the Barbican. Silent film Shiraz tells the love story of the 17th century princess who inspired the construction of the Taj Mahal. Planning is now underway for the film, which has rarely been seen in India since 1928, to be screened in India once again with the Taj Mahal forming a backdrop to the event. Both screenings will be accompanied by a live performance of a specially commissioned score by the Indian composer and sitar player Anoushka Shankar. Subsequently Shiraz will screen at festivals and cinemas across India as a powerful symbol of the partnership between India and the UK. The BFI will present an extensive Indian film programme from April – December 2017, including the UK Premiere of Baahubali: The Conclusion on 27 April.

Taapsee Pannu, who plays a spy in Naam Shabana, believes a woman can do this job better.

Taapsee Pannu is all set to break some bones in her next film, Naam Shabana, in which she plays a spy. The actress recently took to her Twitter, tweeting, “Bond may have had the gadgets but women make ‘bloody good spies’ coz they can multitask n hav a better understanding of emotions,” along with a new still from the film.
