East Shopping Centre celebrates First Anniversary with, music, fashion, food and fun






Monday, March 21, 2016, London, UK – East Shopping Centre, Europe’s first purpose-built boutique Asian shopping centre, celebrated its first anniversary with an afternoon of music, food, family activities and of course a stunning display of Asian fashion. The fun-filled day saw live performances from international music stars, Juggy D, and Mumzy Stranger, live make-up demos from the Lubna Rafiq Academy, dance workshops from Absolute Bollywood, and chief guest Lyn Brown, MP for West Ham.

Crowds at East Shopping Centre danced throughout the afternoon to Juggy D, the self styled Punjabi Rockstar, who performed some of his classic favourites, whilst award-winning British Asian singer Mumzy Stranger gave fans a special preview of his brand new single Jaan Atki.

In between some shopping and interviews with local media, Lyn Brown joined the owners of East Shopping Centre, Bob Popat and Mohammed Akhtar in cutting the spectacular cake, which was modelled to replicate the façade of East Shopping Centre.

Bob Popat, a partner at ACR Investments, the force behind East Shopping Centre said: “It’s been a fantastic day here at East Shopping Centre, celebrating our first year of business. We’ve had a wonderful first year of bringing the very best in Asian fashion to East and attracting over 1.4 million people from across the country. Singer Mumzy Stranger, a local East Londoner added: “It’s great to have East Shopping Centre here on Green Street, which has long been a business hub for the vibrant Asian community in this area. It’s the perfect place for Europe’s first Asian shopping centre and it has attracted over a million people to the area in just its first year. I’ve enjoyed being part of the anniversary celebrations today, performing my brand new single Jaan Atki and meeting so many of my fans from the area.”

Other activities throughout the day included renowned Bollywood Dance Company Absolute Bollywood teaching Bollywood dance to customers, a live make-up tutorial by the talented Lubna Rafiq Academy and music from DJ Dhruv. Children were kept busy and entertained with face painting, popcorn and a selfie zone installed in a traditional Indian tuk tuk by Bollywood Booths. Additional guests included Desi Rascals star Feryal Khan and star of hit YouTube comedy series Cornershop, Islah Abdur Rahman.

Since officially launching in March 2015, East has welcomed approximately 1.4 million visitors, significantly contributing to the economic growth of East London’s iconic Green Street, and making the mall a benchmark shopping destination for the British Asian community. East has also provided opportunities to small and local businesses, had a positive impact on the community by creating jobs and providing a safe, attractive environment for families and friends to shop and spend time.

The Food Court has become regular haunt for many of the locals, with eateries including Brioche Burger, Roosters Piri Piri, Waffle Paradise and Coffee Republic.


The vibrant centre is developed on the one-acre plus site of a landmark former bus depot. It comprises 35 two-storey units, a 17-unit Souk and a spacious 220-capacity Food Court. A spectacular glass roof spans the length of the centre, giving East Shopping Centre a light, airy and open ambience.

Anita Dongre has been at the forefront of the Indian fashion scene for over 20 years. A household name and a highly respected leader in the global fashion fraternity, she is also celebrated for her commitment to reviving, sustaining and empowering traditional Indian crafts. Her eponymous, luxury label ANITA DONGRE, with its fine bridal wear, couture and pret along with the jewellery brand Pink City, are the hot favourites of Bollywood divas and fashionistas.

sikhs give back - volunteers spend a quartermillion man hours to regenerate iconiccitroen building for community use.



7th december 2015, SLOUGH, BERKSHIRE, UK
We announce the opening of Guru Maneyo Granth Gurdwara, which is the second phase and
the epicentre, of a wider project in Slough. The first phase of which was launched in September
and opened by Communities Minister Baroness Williams. The Rt Hon Lord Feldman of Elstree,
Chairman of the Conservative Party will be officially opening the site on the 13th December
2015.
The creation of this unique facility, which will now involve both a temple and a learning centre, the
first in the UK to offer privately funded free City & Guilds courses, has been made possible by the
generosity of the people who support the Sikh faith charity PMKC, which exists to support and
enable Sikh communities to engage in positive community projects
Lord Feldman, will be officially opening the second phase of the 135,000 sq foot site. As part
of the opening, he will be presenting the first batch of students with their qualifications. Lord
Feldman will then open the Gurdwara segment of the site, take part in a short ceremony
and address the Sikh congregation.
Centre Manager Jatinder Singh says “The build has been a labour of love and has amassed
more than a quarter of a million volunteer man hours in its making. The project to regenerate
the iconic Citroen building on the Bath road was estimated to take 3 years to complete but with
the influx of volunteers, it has taken a mere 14 months to complete”.
Prime Minister David Cameron supports the project and said, “I warmly welcome this local
initiative. It is one that will undoubtedly provide economic and social benefits to the local
community, whilst making the positive step of bringing the people who live there closer
together. Not only does this project serve followers of the Sikh faith, but it also provides
access to training and skills to those who need them, regardless of their background. None of
this would be possible without the vitality of those who wish to see their community prosper”.
With collaboration from national businesses including Selco, Mars, Netgear and Slough
borough council, the first batch of students in both Multimedia Production and City &
Guilds Construction Skills courses have been successfully trained. The second round of
enrolment has already commenced for January 2016 in conjunction with DWP, Slough for Youth

and Maximus UK to name a few.

On Sunday 1st November 2015, Soho Road came alive with lights the sound of music and dance organised by Soho Road Business Improvement District area in association with main sponsor MoneyGram







Over 9,000 visitors enjoyed an exciting Diwali celebration . Soho Road was closed to traffic for the day which allowed  the Soho Road Business Improvement district  to have a children’s  fun fair , with a variety of rides and attractions that  kept the families entertained in the beautiful sunshine that lit up the day.
The street market area had a variety of food and retail traders , offering the very best in  street food and Indian cuisine.
The stage was sited at one end of the road closure and the days programme began at 12.30, with various local and international performing artisits
 DR ZEUS , H DHAMI , JK and  RAXSTAR who filled the air with song and dance much to the appreciation of the large crowds.

Janam Janam, the intensity of LOVE





Red Chillies Entertainments Pvt Ltd., Rohit Shetty Productions and Sony Music India presented, to the audiences, the intense romance song of the year Janam Janam from their upcoming film Dilwale. The third song, is based on the intense romance of the iconic on-screen couple of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol in the film and has been sung by Arijit Singh. The lyrics have been penned by Amitabh Bhattacharya and the music is composed by Pritam.

Shah Rukh Khan has proved it once again that he is the King of Bollywood. The tech savvy star has launched the making of his recently released song Janam Janam from Dilwale in 360 Degree. 
This is the first time in India that a song has been shot in 360, making it a very immersive and a novel experience for the end users.  The first of its kind in the Indian Entertainment industry.

Kriti’s on-set attitude is very good - Kajol



The cast and crew of Dilwale have spoken about the pranks that were played on each other during the long schedules of shooting. But one person who stood out for Kajol was Kriti Sanon, and seem to be impressed with her when she mentioned, “Kriti is a very sweet girl. We have actually played few pranks on her, but she has never been unfazed by it, instead she has always taken it in her stride and laughed along with us. She is also always eager to learn. Kriti’s on-set attitude is very good & I believe she will go great distances."

FORMER KICKBOXING WORLD CHAMPION ALI JACKO TURNS SINGER WITH DEBUT RELEASE

LONDON: Former Five time’s kickboxing world champion turned successful business entrepreneur Ali Jacko is set to take the music industry by storm with his debut single release “Give My Love A Brand New Name” on Wednesday November 4, 2015 on the record label LBE Music Group.
The love song is already receiving praise from big names in the music industry and features one of the biggest budget music videos ever delivered by a British Asian artist, which features a Supermodel model and TV personality Jodie Kidd. The eye-catching video has been shot at interesting locations around London including legendary Club Café De Paris and a private jet.
The London based singer/songwriter delivers heartfelt lyrics with emotion filled vocals on a rock anthem that is set to become a timeless classic. “As this is my debut single I wanted everything to be done on a large scale. That is why I assembled the best team to help create the song and produce a music video that was larger than life. I hope people like the video and connect with the universal emotions of the song. This will be the first step towards me sharing more great music with audiences around the world,” said Ali Jacko
The former big-hitting kickboxing world champion is hoping to deliver a knockout blow with “Give My Love A Brand New Name”. He is already in his recording studio working with big names from the western mainstream on more songs, which he hopes to release along with his debut album in 2016.

·        Ali Jacko Bio: London born Ali Jacko is a former kickboxing world champion and successful business entrepreneur. He went from being a BMX Freestyle rider at school and running a fashion business to carving out a big hitting career in kickboxing. On December 2, 1990, he won his first B.I.K.M.A British lightweight kickboxing title. In February 1996, he won the W.M.O European kickboxing title and in May of that year defeated Frederic Pierre to win the W.K.O World lightweight kickboxing title. On October 3rd 1999, he won the W.K.N World Inter-Continental Championship. In June 2000, Jacko took his second World Lightweight kickboxing title; this time in the World Kickboxing Network belt. Jacko became the first Asian to win British, European, Inter-Continental and World Full-Contact kickboxing championships. His 45-fight career only had one defeat by submission due to injury. Ali retired from kickboxing in 2002. In July 1997, Jacko did launch JKO TV in1999, which went onto produce programmes for terrestrial, satellite and corporate clients including Sky Sports and Channel 5.
