Synopsis
HE NAMED ME MALALA is an intimate portrait of Nobel
Peace Prize Laureate Malala Yousafzai, who was targeted by the Taliban and
severely wounded by a gunshot when returning home on her school bus in
Pakistan’s Swat Valley. The then
15-year-old (she turned 18 this July) was singled out, along with her father,
for advocating for girls’ education, and the attack on her sparked an outcry
from supporters around the world. She miraculously survived and is now a
leading campaigner for girls’ education globally as co-founder of the Malala
Fund.
Acclaimed documentary filmmaker Davis Guggenheim
(An Inconvenient Truth, Waiting for Superman) shows us how Malala, her father
Zia and her family are committed to fighting for education for all girls
worldwide. The film gives us an inside glimpse into this extraordinary young
girl’s life – from her close relationship with her father who inspired her love
for education, to her impassioned speeches at the UN, to her everyday life with
her parents and brothers.

impress once again with his latest release Bajirao
Mastani.
A
historical epic, Bajirao Mastani tells the
story of the Maratha and Peshwa princes. Starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika
Padukone and Priyanka Chopra, Bhansali’s
latest release has truly been a labour of love. Working with record-breaking
budgets, Bhansali is now pulling out all stops in promoting his magnum opus.
His latest marketing weapon saw the film set a world record – definitely a
first for Bollywood!
To launch the film’s first track Gajanana, Bhansali’s latest marketing weapon parallels the grand
scale of the historical epic. The song was launched in record breaking fashion,
by creating the biggest human formation of a mosaic image of Lord Ganesha.
Setting a record for the largest human formation of a deity, the event saw over
5000 eager students volunteer from across India, who gathered to create a
194-foot version of Lord Ganesha.
Director-producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali said, “We couldn’t think of a better way to start off the campaign than with the launch of Gajanana, which is an auspicious way to start our journey. Working on this film has been a very spiritual journey for me as a filmmaker. Gajanana is uplifting and truly signifies that.”
Producer Sunil Lulla of Eros International added: “It was an event that will be archived in the history of Indian cinema and we are proud to associate with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s vision and join him in pulling off what just could be the biggest song launch in history of world cinema.”
Bajirao Mastani will be released globally on 18th December 2015.

Following the unprecedented success of its debut on the international fashion calendar in 2015, Aashni + Co Wedding Show is delighted to announce the date of its second, annual South Asian, high fashion extravaganza on Sunday 10th January 2016, taking place at Ballroom Suite, The Dorchester, 53 Park Lane, Mayfair, London W1K 1QA.
India’s most celebrated designers will once again descend on the Capital to present their latest bridal and couture collections on one high-end platform, from established, A-list fashion houses to rising star, new-gen talents including Manish Malhotra, Gaurav Gupta, Anamika Khanna, Anju Modi and Anita Dongre to name a few. UK audiences will have the opportunity of meeting the attending fashion talents, celebrities in their own right across India’s fashion landscape and internationally. Additionally, Aashni + Wedding Show 2016 will welcome lauded Pakistani designer, Faraz Manan, presented by Hello! Pakistan, alongside his Indian contemporaries.
January being renowned as the seasonal buying and browsing period for Summer brides and grooms, Aashni + Co Wedding Show 2016 will curate the latest bridal, occasion wear and couture collections from the top tier of the Indian design spectrum, with accessibility being key to the show. The event will also feature floral styling by Zita Elze, an award-winning artist, designer, teacher, creator of the Living Embroidery Bridal collection and design consultant, who played a key role in designing the debut show in January 2015.
Aashni + Wedding Show 2016’s official charity partner is The British Asian Trust, founded in 2007 by HRH The Prince of Wales, who wanted to do something about the widespread poverty and hardship that he saw in South Asia. He turned to the entrepreneurial spirit of the British Asian diaspora, aiming to link them with innovative social entrepreneurs and grassroots interventions in the region. Since its inception, The British Asian Trust has convened funds, become a trusted navigator and raised awareness through the backing of high profile voices like Nobel Laureate Kailash Satyarthi, music mogul Simon Cowell and Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji. To date, the Trust has made a real difference in the lives of over three million people in South Asia.
