“My mother started the Sachin Sachin chant,” reveals Sachin Tendulkar

By Enlighten India Blog - May 16, 2017

“My mother started the Sachin-Sachin chant,” reveals Sachin Tendulkar

On the occasion of the release of the second song of his docu-drama, Sachin – A Billion Dreams, Sachin Tendulkar revealed it was his mother who started the chants Sachin Sachin.

“My mother started it actually. I used to go play downstairs and to call me back home, mother would call Sachin Sachin,” the cricketer said, when he was asked about the time he first heard the chant.

Sachin Sachin, the anthem song has been created by Oscar-winning music composer A.R. Rahman for Tendulkar’s biopic.

“I never thought Sachin Sachin (chant) would continue beyond my playing days. It has now gone to the theatres. So I feel happy,” the record-breaking batsman said.

“The chants were my supporters’ way of showing their love. I have been inspired by their chant and it has helped me face difficult situations on the field. I admire the way that Rahman has created an inspirational anthem around this chant,” he added.

The movie captures the cricket and personal life of the Master Blaster in detail, revealing aspects of his life, which have never been heard of or seen before.

Produced by Ravi Bhagchandka of 200 Not Out and Shrikant Bhasi of Carnival Motion Pictures, and helmed by Emmy-nominated James Erskine, Sachin - A Billion Dreams is all set to hit the cinemas on Friday 26th May 2017.

NEWEST PETA AD HAS HOCKEY INDIA LEAGUE'S DABANG MUMBAI HC PROMOTE ADOPTION OF HOMELESS DOGS

By Enlighten India Blog - May 16, 2017

NEWEST PETA AD HAS HOCKEY INDIA LEAGUE'S DABANG MUMBAI HC PROMOTE ADOPTION OF HOMELESS DOGS

Members of the Dabang Mumbai Hockey Club recently took time out of their busy schedules to speak up for animals. The team posed with canine pals Tommy and Marshall – who are available for adoption through The Welfare of Stray Dogs – for a print campaign for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) India with the tagline "Be a Champion for Dogs. Adopt – Never Shop". The ad was shot by Gaurav Sawn, make-up was initiated by Ayesha Wadiwala and hair by Pawan O Duggal using Biotop Professional products.

"Always adopt, don't buy. And remember: there are countless cats and dogs at animal shelters waiting for loving homes", says Florian Fuchs. "As a human being, we should care for them. Just like we humans live our life, they also have one,” Harmanpreet Singh adds.

Across India, homeless dogs and cats go hungry, are killed by vehicles, sustain broken bones, suffer from infected wounds, and are abused by cruel people. Countless more wait in animal shelters because there aren't enough good homes for them. PETA – whose motto reads, in part, that "animals are not ours to abuse in any way" – encourages families to adopt dogs and cats and never buy them from breeders or pet stores, which exacerbate the homeless-animal overpopulation crisis.

PETA also advocates for the sterilization of companion animals – a routine, affordable surgery that can prevent thousands of animals from being born only to suffer and struggle to survive on the streets. Just one unaltered female dog and her offspring can produce 67,000 puppies in six years. In seven years, one female cat and her offspring can produce 370,000 kittens.

Anyone interested in adopting Tommy or Marshall should contact The Welfare of Stray Dogs via e-mail at wsdindia@gmail.com

SPRING HAIR TRENDS, 2017

By Foram Patel for Enlighten India blog - May 11, 2017

SPRING HAIR TRENDS, 2017

Are you someone who loves braided hair? Then, it's your time to put on the hat of creativity and experiment with your braiding skills this spring season. We know well, that braiding is just another routine style in our country. Simple three-strand braids are so in the past. This season reinvent your braids and flaunt those eye-catching twists and twirls. Here are some ongoing trends for spring 2017.

ROMANTIC MESSY STYLE
Do your favourite braid style and just naturally mess it up. Messy braids are now in trend. How to make your braid look messy? For that, hairspray works as a magic. Spritz your hair with it to look the most elegant.

PONY STYLE WITH BRAID
You could add braid to your regular pony style to make it quite stylish and trendy, which are the best options for every day style. Be creative and try your own braiding skills.

THE CLASSIC FRENCH BRAID
French braid is pretty common thing yet it has and will always remain an integral part of spring hair trends.

BRAIDED UPDOSWomen with straight hair and who prefer boho styles, braided updos will give a high-end glamourous. And in case if your hair is naturally curly or wavy, you can always straighten it.

BRIADED HAIR CROWN
This is one of my favourite styles. It gives a royal look. Do a braid with the little section of your side hair and fix it around your head like a crown and you are good to go.

PULL THROUGH BRAID
These types of braids are crazily trending. If you are not that good with braiding, this is the easiest option for you decorate your hair with those sexy braids. Once you master this technique, you can create chunky faux hawks, pull through pigtails and updos.

MINNIE MOUSE
If you want to be quiet funky, you could try Minnie mouse ears’ style or bow bun. You simply create two ears bun with your hair and that's it.

DOUBLE SIDED BRAID
This too is very simple to create and looks elegant. It's the conventional French braid, but it has to be created on both sides of your head. It will look extraordinarily charming on medium/long hair. You could try this style especially when you go out for a picnic or to the beach.

BOLLYWOOD'S UNFORGETTABLE HAIRSTYLES

By Sharlene Lobo for Enlighten India BLog - May 11, 2017

BOLLYWOOD'S UNFORGETTABLE HAIRSTYLES

Hollywood red carpet and their weird hairdos are a twentieth century phenomenon. Classic hairstyles alongside the crazy ones have never failed to attract all the buzz and paparazzi. Let’s take you to the world of Bollywood where numerous hairstyles were experimented and reinvented. From indigenous plaits to the English curls; some managed to create a trademark while the rest unfortunately missed it.

The Sadhna Cut - The bewitchingly gorgeous yesteryear actress with a broad forehead had all the young eyes turn towards her fashionable fringe back in the day. Famously known as the ‘Sadhna Haircut’, her fringe created a spark that spelled magic. It was the significant rendition of R.K. Nayyar, who inspired by Audrey Hepburn’s hairstyle, gave this look to the eternal beauty in her 1960’s romantic venture Love in Simla. The haircut remains a classic till date.

The role of Chandu, in Naseeb Apna Apna, a simple village girl who migrates to Bombay to live with her husband, was flawlessly characterized by the south Indian actor Radhika Sarathkumar. Besides her perfect comic timing, it was her indo-western attire and that unseemly monstrous hairstyle that left the audience amused to the bones. Girl, this is one hairstyle Gaga will surely be impressed with!

It was our very own Dhak Dhak girl who introduced the western style brown side-line permed hair in Bollywood. This look oscillates anywhere between being formal and going casual. The perfectly permed up curls defined what it took to be a woman. Her ravishing curls and accentuated features, in movies like Dil, Tezaab and Hum Aapke Hai Kaun, won the hearts of several Indians.

From that perfectly maintained hair in the 80’s to the girl-next-door avatar in the 90’s, this decade was indeed an era of change and transformation. The 90’s saw Bollywood advancing into the world of pop music and colourful denims. Karisma Kapoor, Raveena Tandon, Juhi Chawla and Urmila Matondkar took pride in flaunting those messy voluminous curls; while they ran their hair bounced with the wind. Although the same style today would look scary and unmanageable, hats off to these women who pulled off this tropical look with great ease.

The new millennium not only saw the women in stylish looks but the men donned a new avatar too. The one man who has certainly managed to charm his audience with that extra hair wavering on his head is none other than the Badshah himself, Shahrukh Khan. From that quivering style in Dilwale Dhulaniya Le Jaayenge and the leather hairband in Josh to Michael Jackson’s braided plaits in Don 2 to that sexy pony in Happy New Year, King Khan’s unique hairstyles have always been lovable.

While talking about cult hairstyles, it’s definitely hard to miss on Salman’s ravaging hairstyle in Tere Naam. Well, it wasn’t Salman Khan alone but John Abraham and MS Dhoni too sported the earthy look in the early 2000’s influencing countless youngsters. I wonder if they were ever inspired by the late president Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam?

The ill-fated tragic hero of Gajini, Mr. Perfectionist Aamir Khan, saw to it that everything in his movie ended tragically including his hairstyle. How beautifully does that clean demarcation on his head separate the west from the east!

Have you heard of the Barkha hairstyle? What makes it more bizarre is the copyright that the journalist herself owns. It’s had its stereotypical impact on the characters in Bollywood associated with journalism. If Preity Zinta in Lakshya pulled it off with extreme grace then Anushka Sharma with the same haircut played Aamir Khan’s perfect twin in PK; but here’s the shocker, Saif Ali Khan trying to ape the same hairstyle…uhh…I wonder what was on his head then!
